Altitude
The SSI Altitude Diving program provides students with basic knowledge and skills needed to safely dive at elevations above 1000 feet / 300 meters
What you can expect to learn
- Altitude Dive Planning: Standard decompression models and dive tables are designed for sea-level diving. You will learn how to use modified decompression models to prevent decompression sickness (DCS).
- Safety Procedures: Because high-altitude lakes are often remote, you will cover unique emergency protocols and recognize the effects of reduced atmospheric pressure on your scuba cylinders.
- Environmental Awareness: High-altitude lakes tend to have colder water, varying visibility, and unique freshwater ecosystems.
- Travel & Flying: You will learn precise safety guidelines for driving to higher elevations immediately after diving and flying after altitude diving
