Open Water Diver
This globally-recognized certification program is the best way to begin your life-long adventure as a certified scuba diver. Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. You will earn the SSI Open Water Diver certification.
What you can expect to learn
The SSI Open water diver course is an internationally recognised entry level certification, in which divers will learn how to safely plan and execute dives with a dive buddy, up to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
The SSI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Six Academic Sessions (Independent study or in a classroom)- This is primarily to understand the basic principles of scuba diving and the functions of scuba equipment.
- Six Pool/Confined Water Sessions- Dives conducted in swimming pools, to help you master essential underwater and equipment skills
- Four Open Water Training Dives- Where its time to use the knowledge and skills you acquired, in the open ocean to complete the SSI Open Water Diver Course.
Course equipment requirements
*Equipment will be provided by your Dive Centre. We recommend that you should get your own gear once you become a certified diver.

Recommended hours for completion: 16-32. The number of classes, hours and sessions per day are set by the individual instructor, based on student needs, student ability and water conditions.
